Thanks for this. My family has two cute little mutts who are quite hug-able looking, but there are other ways we show them affection. They like tummy rubs, scratches behind their ears, and even having their butts (at the bases of their tails) scratched (it apparently gives dogs the same kind of relief we get when we can scratch that space between our shoulder blades).
