One comment; while respectability politics is indeed an albatross around the neck of marginalized groups seeking equal rights, Lily Orchard is far from a decent example of someone speaking out against them (her discourse on slur reclamation, for example, seems like it all about not “looking like a weirdo” to cishet society).
